Abstract
Sport Psychology is a scientific discipline that combines the fields of psychology and
sports science and tries to use scientific methodology to understand and explain the basics
of human behavior and its accompanying phenomena and consequences in the special
context of physical activity and especially sport. In this thesis an introduction will be
given of the field Sport Psychology. Furthermore, mental training and motivation and
how to use it properly as well as team building in schools will be examined. The text
shifts focus to personal factors that affect performance and behavior in sport and physical
education, including children's psychological development through sport participation.
Finally, an example of an exercise campaign for children, which contains a purpose, a
background, a target group and a duration will be presented. In order to answer the
research question “To which extent can various factors of Sport Psychology and mental
training be properly used in classes and schools and what benefits will be arising
thereby?”, the points mentioned above are listed and described. Just like a trainer does
with a sports team, a teacher can work on the factors of motivation, mental training and
team building with a class. The strategies and attitudes make it possible to create a
physically and mentally healthy environment. The job task of a teacher is to motivate and
strengthen the children so that they can maximize their performance potential without
being overwhelmed.
